Champ

All you feel is the bass thumping through your legs.
When you all line up in a row,
and your name is called,
you can hear the cheers from the crowd
and the speakers shake with their words.
But during the game,
you can't hear anything.
Even the bass, even the parents, even the coaches.
Everything is gone.
And afterwards,
when the everyone is jumping
and cheering
and it's perfect,
the bass is rattling my bones again.
And as they slip the medal over my head,
I realize what it feels like to be a champion.
